Protect and label your documents
A watermark is text placed over the page content that clearly states the status or owner of a document. It helps prevent misuse of copies and shows what a document is for. Typical examples:
- COPY or FOR VIEWING ONLY – when you send a copy of an ID card, diploma or contract and want to prevent it from being used for anything else. Even better, write the purpose, e.g. "Only for the XY application".
- DRAFT – for versions that are not final yet.
- CONFIDENTIAL – for internal reports and documents with sensitive data.
- Company or website name – for offers, price lists and materials you share with clients.
Settings
Place the watermark diagonally across the page, horizontally in the middle or as a tiled pattern covering the whole page, which is the hardest to remove. Opacity controls how visible the content underneath stays – values between 15 and 30% usually give a good balance. Long text is automatically reduced so it always fits on the page. You can watermark all pages or only selected ones.
Privacy
The watermark is added in your browser, so your document – often a sensitive one, such as an ID copy – never leaves your device.
