Edit a PDF in Word
PDF is great for reading and sharing, but it isn't made for editing. When you need to correct a contract you received as a PDF, update an old CV whose Word file you no longer have, reuse text from a report or adapt a form, the easiest way is to convert the PDF back into a Word document. PDF to Word creates a DOCX file with text, paragraphs, tables and images arranged as closely as possible to the original.
What to expect
Converting PDF to Word is harder than the other way round, because a PDF doesn't store paragraphs and styles β only the position of every character on the page. The converter rebuilds paragraphs, columns and tables from the layout. Results depend on the document:
| Type of PDF | Result |
|---|---|
| Exported from Word, simple layout | Very good β text and paragraphs can be edited right away |
| Tables, multiple columns, images | Good β the layout sometimes needs small adjustments |
| Complex design (brochures, magazines) | Fair β content is transferred but the layout may differ |
| Scanned document | Pages are transferred as images; text can't be edited without OCR |
Security
Conversion runs on our server using the open-source library pdf2docx. The file is sent over an encrypted connection, processed in a temporary folder and deleted right after conversion, together with the Word file.
