Why send a PDF instead of a Word document?
A Word document can look different on different computers: if the recipient lacks your fonts, uses another Office version or opens it on a phone, the layout shifts, tables break and images move. PDF doesn't have that problem – it looks the same on every device and can't be changed by accident. That's why CVs, applications, offers, invoices, contracts and theses are almost always sent as PDF.
Word to PDF converts your document in seconds without Microsoft Office. It works on phones too, so a document you received by email can be converted and forwarded right away.
What is preserved
- page layout, margins, headers and footers,
- tables, images, charts and shapes,
- headings, lists, footnotes and page numbers,
- links, which stay clickable in the PDF,
- accented and Cyrillic characters.
How we convert
Faithful conversion of a Word document requires a real word processor. On our server we use LibreOffice, the well-known open-source office suite, together with fonts that are metric-compatible with the most common Microsoft fonts (Arial, Times New Roman, Calibri, Cambria), so line and page breaks match the original in the vast majority of cases.
Security
The document is sent over an encrypted HTTPS connection, converted in an isolated temporary folder and deleted right after conversion together with the resulting PDF. Macros in documents are never executed.
