How to sign a PDF on your phone without printing
An email arrives with a document you need to sign and send back – an offer, a statement, a school consent form, a contract. The classic routine is print, sign, scan, send. But there is no printer nearby and the deadline is today. Good news: you can sign the document with your finger, right on your phone, in under a minute.
Signing step by step
- Save the PDF from the email or message to your phone (the download button or "Save to Files").
- Open Sign PDF in your phone's browser and select the document.
- Draw your signature with your finger in the signature box. Not happy with it? Tap "Clear" and try again. You can choose black or blue ink.
- Tap the spot in the document where the signature belongs – usually the line above "Signature" on the last page.
- Drag the signature to adjust its position, or resize it by pulling the corner.
- Tap "Save signed PDF" and send the downloaded file back.
Tip: turn your phone sideways while drawing – you get more room and the signature looks more natural.
Making the signature look neat
- Sign in one light, fluid motion, as you would on paper. A slow movement produces a shaky line.
- If you have a stylus, the result will be closest to your real signature.
- Blue ink gives the impression of an original pen signature, which many people prefer.
- Resize the signature so it fits the line – an oversized signature looks obviously pasted in.
Several signatures and initials
You can place the same signature in several places – just tap each spot where it should go. This is handy when a contract needs initials on every page and a full signature on the last. Each placed signature can be moved or removed separately.
Is this kind of signature legally valid?
This is the most important question, so the answer should be precise. The tool inserts an image of your handwritten signature into the document. In practice it is the same as printing, signing and scanning.
It is enough in everyday situations where the other party accepts a scanned signature: offers and orders, consent forms, applications, internal company documents and most business correspondence.
It is not enough when a regulation or the other party requires a qualified electronic signature – one based on a certificate issued by an authorised trust service provider. That kind of signature is legally equivalent to a handwritten one and is typically required for court filings, tax authorities and certain contracts. If in doubt, ask the recipient which type of signature they accept.
Is it safe to draw my signature on a website?
With our tool both the document and the signature stay in your phone's browser. Nothing is sent to a server and the signature is not stored – it disappears as soon as you close the page. Nobody can obtain an image of your signature through the site.
In short
Save the PDF, draw your signature with a finger, tap where it should go and download the signed document. For everyday paperwork that is all you need; for official filings, check whether a qualified electronic signature is required.
